About Amrita TBI Accelerator

Amrita TBI Accelerator is a 6 month fast paced program for Information Technology startups (software startups), with the mix of best practices to help early stage start-ups evolve into successful ventures. The Accelerator Program is supported by SAMRIDH, MeitY Startup Hub, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. The startups can raise funding from the invited external investors and Amrita TBI on the Demo Day. The total investment outlay is
$500,000 USD. Submission Deadline Aug 20th, 2022.

Amrita TBI Accelerator program is designed to be a great Launchpad for the idea/prototype/product. The program allows idea validation, iteration, building of customer development models, enhancing the business models and building a go-to-market strategy. In the end, the startup should be fundable-ready by Demo-Day.

Location: Amrita TBI Accelerator is a virtual program, Startups can operate virtually from their office. Startups have to attend initial sessions at Amritapuri (Kollam, Kerala) office of Amrita TBI.

Who can apply?

We accept Information Technology startups (software startups) across all stages of development- from idea stage through the initial few customers. Accepted startups could have just an idea, built the first prototype or have a finished product with the initial set of customers.

Funding

The total investment outlay is upto $500,000 USD. Additionally, all startups that participate in the accelerator program, will be eligible for varied amounts of investments from the investor panel. Funding is provided in the format of loan and/or equity (SAFE).

Amrita TBI will not take equity from the startups for joining the accelerator program.

STRUCTURE

  • Apply

    The last date for submission of applications is Aug 20, 2022. Participants are requested to complete a simple online form that explains the problem they are trying to solve, the uniqueness of their solution, value proposition, competitive advantage etc. Additional materials to support the case are welcome.

  • Pitch

    The shortlisted startups will be invited for an online pitch to the accelerator selection committee. The top startups will be selected for the Startup Acceleration Program. These top startups will be also incubated by Amrita TBI.

  • Accelerate

    The Amrita TBI Startup Accelerator program is a fast paced program that will focus on customer development, go-to-market strategy and make the startup fundable-ready by Demo Day. All teams will be directly mentored by world class mentors, external partners and the Amrita TBI team.

    • Quick testing and iteration of products.
    • Access to an Accelerator team for support across multiple verticals
    • Mentors in key domains (Technology, Strategy, Product Development, Marketing etc.)
    • Regular engagement with Investors
    • Access to international markets through partnered incubators
    • Funding opportunities on Demo Day

  • Demoday

    All eight startups will be pitching in front of an elite investor panel, MeitY Startup Hub executives, C-Level executives and Amrita TBI for possible investments. The total investment outlay is $500,000 USD. The final startups selected on the demo day will receive investments of upto Rs 50 Lakhs or more from:
    1, Investors (Angels and VCs)
    2, Amrita TBI
    3, MeitY Startup Hub (matching fund of up to Rs.40 Lakhs with an average of Rs.30 Lakhs per startup).

Amrita TBI is a non-profit startup incubator supported by Govt. of India and Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham that funds, mentors and nurtures ideas, startups and entrepreneurs. Amrita TBI is one of the six startup incubators in India that will be made world-class under the AIM, NITI-Aayog program.

In 2017, Amrita TBI received the National Award for being the Best Startup Incubator in India.

I have already made some progress and don’t need to start from scratch, can Amrita TBI Accelerator still help me?

We accept startups across all stages of development- from idea stage through the initial few customers. We have structured the program in such a way that startups irrespective of the stage will greatly benefit from the program. Though there are a few common sessions & workshops for all startups, each specific startup will be associated to a specific mentors and will receive individual mentorship during the program. These mentors will assess the progress you have made and suggest improvements and changes (if needed) to gain better market traction.
